President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed arrived in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia today (October 23). On arrival, at Bole International Airport, President Mohamed was greeted by Foreign Minister Dr. Workneh Gebeyehu.  Ambassadors and scores of other government officials also welcomed the president and his delegation at the airport.

In his short briefings to the Media, President Mohamed noted that his second leg to Ethiopia is part of the plan to meet the leaders of troop contributing countries to Somalia. Mentioning the heinous terrorist act that was dubbed, “the worst single explosion in Mogadishu’s history”, the President underscored it is critical to “unite against our enemy, Al Shabab, who committed atrocity on innocent people.” He added, “This threat is not only a threat to Somalia but also to our neighboring countries.” The President noted, “That is why I am here to seek support and solidarity from our brothers here in Ethiopia.”

President Mohammed also praised Ethiopia for the medicinal supplies and health professionals it provided over the weekend to support victims of the terrorist act that has took lives of over 300 innocent civilians and injured more.

The President is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Hailemariam in the afternoon for a talk on ways of further reinforcing the peace and tranquility of Somalia in particular and the region in general. President Mohammed met Ugandan President Yweri Museveni yesterday (October 22) and is expected to meet his Djiboutian counterpart before long.
